Introduction

[edit]

Hello! Thanks for visiting my user page. I registered an account with Wikipedia quite a while back, but never bothered to actually put anything meaningful into my user page until now.

My name is Er-Jin Jang (Korean: 장어진) although some people in the United States may also know me as Daniel. I spent a vast majority of my early life growing up near an airport in Indonesia, hence the "PK-JIN" username, where "PK-" is a reference to the aircraft registration prefix used in that country and "JIN" is the part of my name. Today I reside in the Eastern United States and hold licenses as a commercial pilot and aircraft mechanic.

I first used Wikipedia sometime in 2004 or 2005 when I was writing a paper in elementary school. Of course, this was back in simpler times when Wikipedia hadn't yet garnered its notorious reputation in academia as it has today, but I digress. Regardless, Wikipedia served as a cornerstone of information to feed my various interests in life (largely aviation, photography, music, and industrial design) and at some point I figured it would be beneficial to create an account myself in the (rare) case I have something to offer/contribute back to the community.

Although my account may have been created a while back, I'm still learning the basics of editing; for now I just commit minor edits and small corrections to already-established articles, but perhaps sometime in the future I may be able to share some of my more specific findings/research in more elaborate scales.

Imaginary FAQ Section

[edit]
Q: With your Korean name being 장어진, shouldn't your English romanization be closer to "Uhjin" or "Eojin" instead of "Er Jin"?
[edit]

A: According to the latest romanization rules (Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism Policy #2000-8 published 7 July 2000), yes, that would be correct. Apparently, however, the romanization rules in effect at the time I was born stipulated that the "어" be spelled out as "Er" and that there be a space between the two syllables. (I almost always write my name with a hyphen because most computer systems otherwise think "Jin" is my middle name. I've been called Er Jang on many occasions.)

Q: Wow, I can't believe you're Korean. Your English doesn't have an accent at all!
[edit]

A: Not sure how you heard my voice with no video or audio clip, but thanks anyway. I learned English almost side-by-side with Korean from a very young age, and from a wide variety of English teachers from 'Straya, Bri'n and 'Merica, so I suppose their influences have evened out close to General American English.

Q: We've been trying to reach you concerning your vehicle's extended auto warranty.
[edit]

A: No.
