P. Rajapandi is a Tamil film director based in Chennai. He made his directorial debut with the Vijay Vasanth starrer Ennamo Nadakkudhu in 2014 and followed it up with the film Achamindri in 2016. Both movies were received well at the box office and also attained favourable reviews from critics.
Career
[edit]Rajapandi hails from Madurai and is a BBA graduate from the renowned Madurai sourastra college . He completed his DFTech in Direction and Screenplay writing from M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute , Chennai. He went on to assist the famous Indian director Manirathnam. Initially , Rajapandi ventured into TV serials with his own Production for Sun TV. He wrote and Directed the serial Nila Pen. The serial went on to win the Best Serial award in Sun Tv and won several other awards too. The serial was based on the mysterious death of actress Divya Bharathi and its association with Dawood Ibrahim. In TV Channel history , it was the earliest attempts on making a serial based on the real life death of an actress. Rajapandi went on to do a lot more Serials and Telefilms for Jaya Tv , Vijay TV, Zee tamizh and SaReGaMa Tv.
In 2014, he debuted his first directorial venture with Ennamo Nadakkudhu, produced by Triple V Records starring Vijay Vasanth, Mahima Nambiar, Prabhu and Saranya Ponvannan. . Ennamo Nadakkudhu opened to positive reviews in April 2014, with a critic noting that "it is a promising work from the debutant director". Saranya Ponvannan received the Best Character Artist award at Anantha Vikatan Awards for Ennamo Nadakkudhu. Following the success of ennamo Nadakkudhu , Rajapandi joined hands again with Vijay Vasanth under the same banner , Triple V Records for a new film Achamindri. Achamindri starred Vijay Vasanth, Srushti Dange, Samuthirakani and Saranya Ponvannan in pivotal roles. Achamindri released in 2016 to good reviews and attained Hit status in the Box office. The movie delivered an intense social message regarding the education system prevalent in the state and also suggested changes to be made in the existing system. Indiaglitz in its review stated Achamindri can be watched for its message about Education system conveyed with the right impact, the suspenseful narration that keeps us guessing and a genuine twist.The Times of India gave 3 out of 5 stars. Dinamalar in its review stated that Achamindri is a must watch for Students, parents and Educational Institutions. The movie won the Best Film award at V4 Awards 2016.
