John Edmund "Jack" Fries was an American Football player, coach, and sports figure in the United States.

Fries played right tackle for the Carroll College Pioneers located in Waukesha, Wisconsin. In his senior year, he was captain of the team that he played on for four years.[1] As a player, he would witness his opposing team throw the the first legal forward pass on September 5, 1906 in a 22-0 against Saint Louis University.[2]
