OARP stands for Owner, Accountable, Responsible, Participant[1]. It is a technique used for identify stakeholders for a project or for a piece of work. Different users or roles are designated as the Owner, those who are accountable , the roles or people who are responsible for the item, and those who are participants.

Once people or teams have been assigned to these categories it makes it easier to manage a piece of work or commence a project. OARP also:

  • Clarifies roles around decision making
  • Promotes Efficiency
  • Promotes transparency
  • Increases Collaboration
