Your GA nomination of Periyar E. V. Ramasamy

[edit]

The article Periyar E. V. Ramasamy you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Periyar E. V. Ramasamy for things needed to be addressed. SBC-YPR (talk) 09:25, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your participation in my recent RfA, which failed with 90/38/3; whether you supported, opposed or remained neutral.

Special thanks go out to Moreschi, Dougweller and Frank for nominating me, and I will try to take everyone's comments on board.

Thanks again for your participation. I am currently concentrating my efforts on the Wikification WikiProject. It's fun! Please visit the project and wikify a few articles to help clear the backlog. If you can recruit some more participants, then even better.

Thank you for your hard work on Periyar E. V. Ramasamy. Following an excellent copyedit on the suggestions provided, I have now passed this article as a Good article, and updated the various talk page templates to reflect this.

That also means you get one of these:

which you may like to place on your user page (or somewhere suitable) by copy/pasting {{User Good Article|Periyar E. V. Ramasamy}} into the page code.

Great job - well done! Regards, SBC-YPR (talk) 12:30, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the trust you placed in me by supporting my RfA (which passed and, apparently, I am now an admin!). Please can you use AWB or manually redirect pages after moving them. Eg, with Sneha. I had to go around editing over 100 articles changing Sneha to Sneha (actress). Universal Hero (talk) 13:03, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

My apologies ,I cannot use AWB from public connection due to restrictions in downloads .But did feel the move was necessary as there were so many Sneha.Thank you for correcting my error .my apologies again.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 17:43, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Alfie Patten

[edit]

I have nominated Alfie Patten, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alfie Patten. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. accusations of "vandalism"

[edit]

Sir: I did not vandalize any page. I have multiple references and citations for my edit. In fact, I was adding a reference for an edit when my contribution was attacked by two parties. They continued to speak about one source I used while ignoring the other two. I am contributing on a common and well-known controversy in science and society. There is much documentation of it. If I am harassed or slandered or libelled while making genuine edits, I will complain. This encyclopedia was not intended to be a battlefield for sniper attacks. Any edits must stand the test of time and documentation. Persons who are allowing bias or lack of neutrality to color their edits are acting inappropriately. Thank you for your time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rbfitz0529 (talkcontribs) 05:39, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Blanking

[edit]

Just to give you a heads up (as I didn't know this until someone told me), if someone gets their article tagged with a csd, and they blank the whole thing, we generally just put up {{db-blanked}} meaning that the author has blanked the page. -WarthogDemon 06:28, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Reverting my edit

[edit]

For some reason, you left this message on my talk page and reverted one of my edits:

"Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page ChinesePod. "

Did you read the talk page? My edit was not "unconstructive." One user has been adding a POV section to the ChinesePod entry for days. Several of us have been debating it and reverting his edits. Please don't step into the middle of something when you haven't looked into what is actually taking place. Thanks. -- Ashe the Cyborg (talk) 14:48, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Tamil protests

[edit]

Hello, I was wondering if you are familiar with the 2009 Tamil protests that are going on right now in several countries in the world regarding the Sri Lankan Civil War. Will you be able to help out by creating some articles about these protests that are happening in some of these countries. You can check 2009 Tamil protests for a list of countries and create an article on one of the broken links (see Protests section). So far 2009 Tamil protests in Canada, 2009 Tamil protests in Australia and 2009 Tamil protests in the United Kingdom have been created and you can use those as a guideline to create a new one. It would be nice if you can contribute. Thank you! Eelam StyleZ (talk) 23:11, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I would like to thank you for coming out and participating in my Request for Adminship, which closed unsuccessfully at (48/8/6) based on my withdrawal. I withdrew because in my opinion I need to focus on problems with my content contributions before I can proceed with expanding my responsibilities. Overall I feel that the RfA has improved me as an editor and in turn some articles which in my eyes is successful. Thank you again for your support. Cheers and happy editing.--kelapstick (talk) 18:36, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Question

[edit]

I have been on Wikipedia for months now and have recently engaged problems with another user whom I'm almost certain is not an administrator. MS has claimed that my reverting edits violates the three-revert rule and that I have engaged in an edit war. I have responded personally with the user but my other concern is that they have threatened me with blocking me from editing. One other minor thing is that not only have they violated the three-revert rule, but also put the "block you" message in bold, which I specifically read should not be done. I am just mainly concerned about what to do about the whole situation. I know my edits are correct and understand that it is just a miscommunication but to me it seems as though this user does not care and only wishes to see the pages as he or she desires. Sorry if this is an annoying message, but I am just wondering if you have any advice on this. Benniebop1991 (talk) 20:07, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

First, I didn't bold anything. That's how the message gets displayed, see the template page. Second, I didn't threatened you from blocking. Again that's how the message gets displayed. Third, the message doesn't say you violated the 3RR rule, it is letting you know that you can revert three times in 24 hours. That is all. Also neither one of use have violated the 3RR rule, rverting more than three times is violating the rule. You say her genre is J-pop, I say rock because if you listened to the music you'd see that her music is rock. And assume good faith since you are not doing that. MS (Talk|Contributions) 20:28, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Pharaoh: I spotted this sad little article on vandalism patrol. I added the human rights box and made some quick changes to improve the article. I figured you may want to rate it, and make improvements as this is part of your project area. I know the incident was mentioned in a 2006 UN report (if I remember correctly), so it could be expanded nicely if you like. Thanks.--Yachtsman1 (talk) 07:22, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

I declined speedy as it wasn't clear that it was pure advertisement, and I try to be a bit more cautious on CSD. However, I feel it would be a reasonable candidate for AFD. Thanks! Plastikspork (talk) 23:35, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Periyar1973.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Periyar1973.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:06, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
