Pitsford Hall weather station was established in 1998 to maintain an accurate climatological record for Northampton. The station is maintained by Northamptonshire Grammar School and maintenance of the meteorological record is the responsibility of Sixth Form students at the school who receive rigorous training in observational methods. The inventory is impressive and compromises two climatological enclosures and a fully automated system that updates [the station's web site http://www.northantsweather.org.uk] with weather data every few minutes. Weather reports are released daily and received by hundreds of subscribers that include various local companies, farmers as well as universities and institutes engaged in climate monitoring.

The station works to achieve the highest possible standards in climate monitoring and as a result has achieved a considerable standing in the local community as a reliable and expert source of information. The instrumentation conforms to UK Met Office and WMO standards and the official climatological record released monthly is subject to rigorous quality control. File:Rooftopenclosure.jpg
