Personal history[edit]

Pablo Medina worked for ABC Color news paper for 16 years. He was well known for his drug trafficking articles and investigative work in the Canindeyú Department. His brother Salavador Medina was killed in near by area in 2001. Medina brother was investigating drug trafficking when he was murdered.

Career[edit]

Pablo Medina worked for the ABC Color newspaper since 1998 as regional reporter. Medina was investigating drug trafficking between Brazilian nationals and government officials before his death on 16 October 2014. The 53-year-old journalist was known for his drug trafficking articles on ABC Color newspaper. His colleagues at ABC color recognized Pablo Medina for his passionate journalistic work in his obituary on October 17.[1]

Death[edit]

53 year old Paraguay journalist Pablo Medina and his 19-year old assistant Antonia Almeda was murdered/ Both were covering a story in a town called Ko’ë Porä which is in the area Villa Ygatimí when two men pulled them over. Gunman shot Medina first before shooting his assistant. Medina died instantly, but his assistant died on the way to the hospital. Pablo Medina and Antonia Almeda died on October 16th, 2014.

Pablo Medina death has now forced a major investigation within local corrupted officials and Brazilian Nationals. The mayor of Ypehu which is a district of Canindeyú is now considered a suspect in Pablo Medina murder and Antonia Almada murder http://www.argentinaindependent.com/tag/journalist/. The mayor hired 3 other men to kill Medina and his assistant.

Impact[edit]

Major investigation into both Medina death and his assistant that might bring down major implications to the drug cartel in corrupted politicians as Mayor of Ypehu is considered the prime suspect. If proven he is guilty with his hired hitman will question how deep is the corruption going to be. Citizens and journalist wonder if the corruption goes all the way up to the President. A lot of questions are being asked and protests are occurring from fellow journalists.

Journalists are protesting in the streets after the death of Pablo Medina on October 16th with his 19-year old assistant Antonia Almada http://www.dc4mf.org/en/content/journalists-protest-colleagues-murder-paraguay. Investigation is ongoing with multiple suspects. Mayor Vilmar Acosta and his brother are still out large but considered major suspects in Medina murder.
