History of ilupeju Ekiti: the plateau town of Ekiti land. Ilupeju- Ekiti came into existence after the abrogation of two separate administrative entities (Eseta/Egosi) in 1970 but officially recognized in 1974. Before this time, Eseta and Egosi was governed by the oloja of Egosi and oloja Eseta respectively. The nature of leadership did not make for progress and thorough understanding. The concept of one town and one Oba was nursed for some 20 years until late 1960s when the idea was gazetted in 1974. By the charter of the town; the two previous towns became know , recognized and addressed as "ILUPEJU-EKITI" with the single head "APEJU" and non contestable because it is morally yo be attained by promotion of an existing "OBANLA" who is second in rank and when the post of APEJU becomes vacant will become the APEJU. Ilupeju-Ekiti is situated on a plateau on latitude 8 north of the equator and longitude 5 East of Greenwich meridian. It is about 12kilometer from ifaki-Ekiti , on the ifaki-Omuo Expressway. It has the largest (MENARA) market in the area. It has several public nursery and primary schools,and secondary schools. The major occupation of the inhabitants of the town is farming and trading.
