Dr. Paul R Bloom PhD is an a emeritus professor of soil chemistry in the Department of Soil, Water and Climate at the University of Minnesota https://swac.umn.edu/people/paul-bloom. He retired from active teaching and research in 2011. His research has been focused on the application of basic principles of chemistry to problems in soil science. One important area of interest is the interactions of various elements with soil organic matter. He also worked with wild rice growers on problems related to plant nutrition and has a long-standing interest in the problem of iron deficiency chlorosis in soybeans.

Dr. Bloom is a long-term member of the International Humic Substances Society and is on the Board of Directors https://humic-substances.org. He manages the sale samples from the IHSS a collection of humic and fulvic acids and natural organic matter.
