A list of three-letter templates that could probably be expanded to a more obvious name, e.g. {{tlc}} → {{template link code}}.

Second opinion requested
[edit]- FBI - Template:Federal Bureau of Investigation already exists. I don't love that the abbreviation and the full name are different things... HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 01:41, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- Template:Federal Bureau of Investigation should be moved to Template:Infobox Federal Bureau of Investigation per standard naming convention of infobox, the navbox can then either usurp its name or be renamed to Template:Federal Bureau of Investigation navbox which in this case might be better. Gonnym (talk) 18:34, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- FIA - worth expanding? HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 01:41, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- Fs2 - looks like we need Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2020 February 1#Template:Football squad player2 to be resolved first? It also has a bunch of sub templates (e.g. Template:Fs2 start). HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 01:41, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- IDG - seems to be the official name of the company, but the main article is at International Data Group. HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 01:41, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- IPN - article uses Spanish name; should the template? I lean towards renaming to Template:Instituto Politécnico Nacional (with a redirect from the diacritic-less version), but Template:National Polytechnic Institute also works for me. HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 01:41, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- EUA - seems to be a soccer team link, not a national flag? HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 18:01, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Nsx - what does this stand for? HouseBlaster (talk · he/they) 23:08, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- AMA - not sure what to call this. AMA stands for American Motorcyclist Association (see discussion with creator) but that would be an even worse name. HouseBlaster (talk · he/they) 22:35, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- EOS - Template:Cite Encyclopedia of Shinto? Template:Cite encyclopedia of Shinto? Template:Cite encyclopedia of shinto? Something else? HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 02:35, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- Cs1 and Cs2 - {{Citation Style 1}} already exists. Maybe #Can't think of what it could be changed to? HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:52, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- ZDB - expanding this would be Template:Zeitschriftendatenbank (which imo is equally unhelpful). Is there a better name I am not thinking of, or does this go into the #Can't think of what it could be changed to pile? HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:52, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- BCE - I think the abbreviation is more recognizable than Template:Before common era, so I am inclined to put this one down as a reasonable TLT. But given that people seem to be avoiding this one, I am putting this here for others to chime in. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:44, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- Cta - seems to come from Module:Adjacent stations/CTA. That CTA stands for Chicago Transit Authority, which is worse than meaningless – actively misleading. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 04:07, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- CPT - could probably be deleted. Only used at List of Lisbon metro stations, even it is is used extensively there. No idea what it stands for. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 04:12, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- RUB - {{Russian ruble}} exists and is a different template, because the the Ruble sign changed at some poin. ({{Russian ruble}} is the modern version, if it helps people come up with ideas.) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 02:21, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

[edit]XfD templates (worth renaming?)
[edit]I will note that {{Afd}} is at {{Article for deletion}}, {{Rfd}} is at {{Redirect for discussion}}, and {{Tfd}} is at {{Template for discussion}}, so I am leaning towards "worth doing". HouseBlaster (talk · he/they) 01:35, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]That is, templates which make use of Module:Template wrapper. They might be worth renaming; they are really halfway between a redirect and a fully-functional template. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 03:41, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
