Adoption

Hi, I noticed on User talk:Bok269, you seem interested in adopting a user- I don't know if you know this, but this is part of the WP:ADOPT program- have a look at the page if you want to know more, and get involved- thanks! CattleGirl talk | e@ 08:30, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

From Bok269

Yes. Id really appreciate that. Bok269 20:54, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Sounds good. I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but when I do, I'll let you know. Bok269 02:42, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm interested in all three, but since I know how to edit the text, and I am no where near administrator ship, can you explain to me how fighting vandalism works within the wikipedia community (the task force, etc.) THanks!

Will do. Also, I have a lot of photos that I think could be a useful addition to Wikipedia. SHould I add them directly to Wikipedia or to Wikimedia Commons?

Sorry for the late reply, I've been on vacation. All the photos I want to upload are photos I have taken. Would I have to be concernec with fair use when uploading these?

Some are of natural things like mountains, national parks, etc. Others are pictures of cars and other random things I have come across in my travels.

VP approval

Thank you for approving me (and a bunch of others). I'm sorry if I annoyed you, but the list was really long. — BrotherFlounder (aka DiegoTehMexican) 01:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Problem with VP approval

Hi, you recently approved me for VP use (during that mass approval ;-) ) but I still can't use the program - it keeps saying I'm not on the list. At first I thought I might not be on the list but then I saw your contribs on the list page and you obviously added me. So I was thinking, since some of the numbers in the list code have the "." character in them, could it be possible that it has problems with usernames with dots? Tom.k 18:09, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes the cookies are on, I even tried moving the Privacy slider all the way down. Plus VP loads my wiki login info just fine. This really seems like VP can't find the name in the list, or parse the username correctly. I've seen that user Jan.Smolik had the same problem, and that's a username with dot....although there are other people who get this error and don't have a dot in their name. If I try to make an account without a dot, would you approve it (obviously it will have 0 edits count)? Tom.k 20:51, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
OK, I've made a new account User:TomSwifty . Do I have to put it on the approval request list? Tom.k 21:30, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't work even on that new account :-( I tried logging in from my notebook - still the same. I will try some other computers. But so far it looks like no VP for me... Thank you for helping me though. Tom.k 08:23, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

My Period.

Ok, that sounded dirty. Anyway... I'll let you know when I get it working/not-working at home. ---J.S (T/C) 22:59, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, thanks for the hard work on it. I won't be able to test it out for 2 hours anyway. Why not make a sock to test it out on? (That would actually be a legal use of a sock). ---J.S (T/C) 23:35, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

You just approved me...

...but my Username is Tomtheman5, not Tomtheman. I don't know if this will affect my use of VP. Thanks for your help! tiZom(2¢) 23:08, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Am I still logged into VandalProof

No, I kept getting errors every 10 minutes or so, after which I would restart the program with no problem. But now when i try to login, it say the user list is corrupt, and that I should contact a moderator. Imaninjapirate 23:17, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Fixed

AmiDaniel seems to have fixed it --frothT C 00:19, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

All right thanks a lot, and I'd be happy to help with approvals- I'm a pretty metapedian editor, as my embarrassing mainspace edit count betrays --frothT C 00:27, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Haha I wasn't copying off of you, it's on my user page too! (and it's been there for awhile) What a coincidence --frothT C 00:33, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Other than copious runtime errors it's working fine thanks --frothT C 04:55, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Lou franklin

I'm not sure what "not tied to this request" means, but Hernando Cortez was definitely a sockpuppet of Lou franklin; plus I understand that Checkuser evidence isn't preserved for ever, and the Cortez account was used more recently than the Franklin account. --Sam Blanning(talk) 04:37, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

My IP address

There is no real reason to delete it, since it gives out no personal info. To most people it looks like any one of the thousands of IP editors each day. Since there is nothing tying it to you, it is perfectly safe to keep it there. Let me know if you really want it gone, but it is much easier (and possibly more private) to leave it. Prodego talk 00:27, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Okay, sounds like everything should be fine. Thanks for clarifying it for me. Cheers BBlze1 02:08, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
