•Shen Congwen (1902 -- 1988) was born in Fenghuang, Hunan province. His original name is Shen Yuehuan, and his pseudonym is Xiu Yunyun. He is a famous Chinese writer and a researcher of historical relics. In the field of literature, he is one of the few literary masters in the 20th century Chinese literary history. His representative works include novels "Black Phoenix", "Border town", "Long River", "Little Scene under the Moon" and so on, and essays "Atobiography of Congwen", "Prose of Xiang Xing", "Xiangxi" and so on. Shen Congwen is an important writer of the "Beijing school" in the 1930s. His unique "Xiangxi world" is one of the eternal images and beautiful memories of Chinese literature in the 20th century. But from the 1950s, he turned to the study of ancient Chinese historical relics and costumes. His book is "Study of Ancient Chinese Dress". This book is the crystallization of Shen Congwen's achievements since he engaged in cultural relic research. The book enjoys a high reputation in the academic world and is still regarded as a classic work in this field.

Shen Congwen's wife[edit]

Zhang Zhaohe (September 15, 1910 -- February 16, 2003), female, born in Hefei, Anhui Province. She was the wife of Shen Congwen, who, was the same as her husband was a writer. In 1929, Shen Congwen was hired by Hu Shi to teach in Shanghai. During this period, His student Zhang Zhaohe attracted Shen's attention. Zhang Zhaohe was known as "black Peony" in the school. Shen Congwen went through all kinds of hard work and tried his best not to give up, which finally touched Zhang and his family. They married in 1933, and he was married for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, Shen Congwen was not immune to the political campaigns of the 1950s and 1960s. He became involved in the fling abuses and taunts that made him depressed, and he moved to a nursing home without Zhang Zhaohe. They were separated, just writing to each other. In the 80 s. Shen Congwen passed away. It was only when Zhang Zhaohe was sorting out his writings that he realized his lack of understanding of Shen Congwen. It was only in the process of editing and sorting out Shen's manuscripts that he understood the pressure and hardship Shen Congwen had been under.
