I compared the English and French Wikipedia pages for Les Miserables. As a French original, it has become hugely popular in the U.S., to the point that the recent film was American-made. This topic is somewhat difficult because the book, musical, and many film adaptations have separate articles.
Les Mis The Book The articles have 45% concept similarity. This is one situation when the non-English article is far more detailed, perhaps consider the original was penned in French. The French page links to 286 Wikipedia pages, with the English article linking to 136. That gives the indication that the French article is far more thorough, and the French Wikipedia perhaps has more pages relevant to a French-based novel.
The English article contains more information about American reception, which is probably appropriate. It includes information about awards and American/English performances. It also includes links to pages about American publications that reviewed that novel -- like the New York Times. It would make sense that the French article would ignore the New York Times review.
Les Mis The Musical The French and English articles have 42% concept similarity. The play was originally written in french, then adapted to English. It likely has substantial differences in that way in the producers and directors and actors, etc. are entirely different! The English article links to 470 pages; The French article, only 76. Perhaps English contributors are more link-happy. The English article also includes information about American-specific awards.
