QUICK DESCRIPTION:
Dr. Latif Amin was a Kurdish family doctor and football/volleyball player and was the president of (Slemani Sports Club) and helped the victims of Halabja.
EARLY LIFE:
Dr Latif Amin Mahmood was born in (1945) in (Kani Askani in Slemani). Dr Latif started school at (Kani Askani Elementary School) and started playing football, volleyball, and basketball finished his elementary school years there, and later on, he continued playing football, and volleyball.
Dr Latif finished his secondary school years in (1963) and in (1969) he finished Medical school at the (University of Mosul) where he continued to play football, basketball, volleyball, and also tennis. Dr Latif also played football for (Asoy Milli)Team during the start of the 60s.
FAMILY:
And for the first time, he settled down in (1972) to become a doctor in (Mawat). And in the same year, he married (Sheren AbdulWafaa) and had 5 children with her who are (Dere-Dashne-Sawen-Sawk-Draw) the oldest being (Dere) and the youngest being (Draw). The three boys went on to continue their father's legacy and become doctors (and they played football as well) themselves.
In the years (1986-1991) he was the General Health Director of Slemani. After the protest against the government of Iraq, they retired him from his position because he was supporting Kurds at the time of the protest.
SPORTS:
Dr. Latif became the president of (the Slemani Sports Club) from (1987-2000) and during that time it was considered to be the toughest time for sports because of Economic and political problems.
Dr Latif always had a very deep love for sports and loved being involved in them so when he unfortunately retired from the Club due to Health issues he was devastated.
VICTIM CONTRIBUTIONS:
Dr. Latif also participated in helping the Victims of (the Halabja Chemical Incident) caused by Saddam Hussein towards the Kurds of Halabja where he placed them in hospitals for chemical burns but during that time it was strictly prohibited by the Iraqi government to put patients in hospitals due to chemical burns so they could suffer but he went out of his way to do it and later was hated by the government of Iraq.
DEATH:
Dr Latif Amin Mahmood unfortunately passed away on (14/11/2018) due to health issues.
