Described by many as a real life [Flintstones] House, A Casa do Penedo (the House of Stone) in [Fafe], a municipality in [Portugal], was built between four large boulders on a scenic hillside in 1974 by an engineer from [Guimarães] as the family's country home. Though remote, it is a destination sought by many tourists. Having been the subject of robbery attempts and vandalism, the home now sports bullet proof windows and a steel door. The last known owner of the home, Vítor Rodrigues, was so harassed by people looking in the windows and trying the doors, that he was forced to move out of the home in 2009.
The house was featured in the film A Lua by Sérgio Castro. It was also featured in promotional photos for a local cycling marathon in 2008. Publicity such as this and coverage from media
