From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Featured Audio should:

  1. Be of high quality. TODO: define. 196kbps minimum?
    • The exception to this rule is the rarity or importance of the audio.
  2. Be Wikipedia's best work. It should that exemplify Wikipedia's very best work.
  3. Have a free license. It should be available in the public domain or under a free license. Fair use audio is not allowed.
  4. Add value to an article and help complete readers' understanding of an article in ways other media in the article does not. It is important that the encyclopedic value of the audio be given priority over the artistic value of the audio.
  5. Be accurate. Supported by facts in the article or references cited on the image page.
  6. Be pleasing to the ear. Created in a manner which best illustrates the subject. The audio should make a reader want to know more.
    • The same exception to the rule of high quality may be applied here.
  7. Have a good caption. The audio should be displayed with a descriptive, informative and complete caption.
  8. Be neutral, Audio should not put forward a particular agenda or point of view, but instead should illustrate the subject objectively.

TODO: define further, rule out podcasts etc.
