1. Three related topics

A) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangong_suture

B) The Bangong suture zone lies within Tibet and displays micro-plate tectonics between the Qiangtang and Lhasa blocks in the form of sinistral north-east trending strike slip faults.

C) The page could use more information on the types of rocks that make up the suture zone and how they form.

D) A successful part of the written communication in this page is the use of links on key terms that the reader may not know; such as "sinistral". Something to improve on would be that there are also some terms that are not explained or linked to, such as "Neo-Tethys Ocean".

E) The 2 figures (one of map view and one cross-sectional view) do a great job of displaying the location and formation of the Bangong suture, while at the same time being simple and easy to understand. Something to improve on could be the addition of more figures such as a topographic map, pictures of the rocks found there, etc. Also, fault symbols could have been added to the map view picture depicting the different terrains.

A) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geology_of_the_Himalaya

B) This page describes and explains in-depth the making of the Himalaya and all of the major tectonic subdivisions within the Himalaya

C) This page is very informative, but it would be more useful if it proposed some evidence for an idea, and explained the mechanism more thoroughly

D) The page succeeds at having many links for difficult keywords and goes into great detail. What it could improve on would be to divide the page into more sections, rather then just 2.

E) The page succeeds at providing many pictures to support their idea, but the first three pictures are somewhat confusing and the tectonic map of the Himalaya is old.

A) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tibetan_Plateau

B) The basic concept of this paper is to describe the Tibetan Plateau’s geography, animal and plant life, human history, and weather impact on the surrounding regions

C) The author is describes many basic details but does not into depth in any category.

D) The successful written part is all of the different categories cover many different aspects of the plateau. The part that needs improving is that the author never finished writing about the geology, human history, or plant and animal life

E) The map pictures of Tibet are very informative but all 5 pictures are basically the same.

2. Proposal

A) The topic for my wiki page is intra-plate tectonics. I will first introduce what intra-plat tectonics is, and then I will explain examples of intra-plate tectonics.

B) This new wiki page is valuable because it will explain intra-plate tectonics and the environments it occurs within. This page can help the knowledge of any casual person that it interested in tectonics, or it could be used as a reference for a geologist looking to answer a problem dealing with the same topic. It could possibly be linked to any paper on deformation within plates

C)

  • Introduction/definition
  • How it occurs
  • Examples

-East Asia

-Yellowstone

Figures- I will include a geologic picture of east Asia, highlighting Tibet, and Another geologic picture of Yellowstone. I’ll also include the picture progression of a wedge pushing through a sheet of paper that Illustrates the “flow” of Tibet. The illustration I’m creating will be of the difference between what the India Asia collision looks like with and without intra-plat deformation.
