The Opelika-Auburn News is a daily newspaper serving Lee, Chambers, Macon, Tallapoosa and Russell counties in East Alabama. The newspaper is based in Opelika, the county seat of Lee County, and is owned by Media General, a Virginia-based media company.

The Opelika-Auburn News publishes Monday through Sunday, with a daily circulation of 16,000 and a Sunday circulation of 17,000.[1]

Features

The Opelika-Auburn News publishes four Features sections throughout the week: Community (Wednesdays), Let's Eat (Fridays), Religion (Saturdays) and Your Life (Sundays).

Honors

In 2011, the Opelika-Auburn News won its fifth consecutive General Excellence award from the Alabama Press Association. The award, widely considered the APA's top honor, was the newspaper's seventh in the past eight years.[2]

The newspaper also won news and sports reporting sweepstakes awards in the 2011 Alabama Associated Press Managing Editors annual newspaper contest.[3]
