Osa Seven (Osa Okunkpolor; born 11 March 1983) is a top Nigerian Graffiti Artist, Brand Developer and GFX designer with a passion for telling stories using contemporary art. His work ranges from portraits of iconic characters to scenic images, brand designs, abstract art, and tribal art designs that appeal to human emotions.

Osa Seven works with corporate brands on launch campaigns, and simultaneously execute commissioned art pieces for private individuals.

Early Life & Education[edit]

Growing up, Osa seven had spent majority of his time drawing and painting. He bagged his Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communications from the prestigious University of Lagos Nigeria. Being a quiet and calculated person, graffiti became his means of self-expression coupled with inspiration from Banksy and Jean Michael-Basquiat. Art became a crucial part of his life; refusing to be described as a freelancer or "just an artist" he took it further and made a brand that became the Business of Art hence the Osa Seven Brand.

Career[edit]

Osa Seven has worked as a Brand Developer for Food Concepts PLC - His Identity Designs launched the Chicken Republic brand into the Nigerian Space and ran one of the top Clothing Brands in Nigeria, now-defunct Live Mechanics before the Osa Seven Brand. Osa Seven Brand has since worked with top companies the likes of MTV, Jameson, Absolut Vodka, Pernod Ricard, HP Africa, Guinness, Smirnoff, Heineken, The Federal Government Of Nigeria, and several private individuals. The Osa Seven brand is associated with Quality and Professionalism.

Exhibition[edit]

2016

  • The 7TH Element: The first ever graffiti exhibition in Nigeria which was organised by Osa Seven and his parent company A2 Creative. This exhibition was held at the KIA showroom on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 2016.[1] [2]
  • Panorama: Osengwa, a US-based art retail platform, partners with Kuma Nation, a collective of non traditional artists, to host Panorama, a truly one of a kind street and contemporary art viewing. Featuring live art installations, exhibitions from 12 internationally recognized African artists including Osa 7 and others.[3]

Social Influences[edit]

With believe in giving back to society Osa Seven together with Socially Africa co-founded Art For A Cause[4] which is an initiative that uses Art to inspire young kids. Osa Seven also volunteers at WormFreeZone and have taught classes as British Council and Goethe Institute workshops.

Recognition[edit]

Osa Seven focus on changing the perception of graffiti in Nigeria earned him his feature on CNNAfrica Voices[5]

Osa Seven was recently nominated for The Future AwardsAfrica 2016 category of "The Future Awards Africa Prize for Arts & Culture"[6]
