Government

[edit]

This section should include a description of the local city government, such as the mayor's office, city council or legislature, city manager (if applicable), and how these entities interact. For larger cities, you might include information on the local government politics as well.

Secondly, a brief paragraph about finance: spending for a recent year and/or proposed spending with footnotes to the full reports. The method of taxation: sales tax/real estate/personal property. The total number of government employees could be listed.

Lowery

[edit]

Lowery has been been fearful of his security. When elected "Every city has people who are really on the edge," said Lowery, 69. "We have 25 or 30 who are convinced that everything bad that's happening to them is the government's fault. And the closest government to them is City Hall."[1] To quell his fears, Lowery has had an increased police prescience in city council meetings and has also installed metal detectors for security screening.[1]

Election 2003

[edit]

In the election of 2003 Lowery ran unopposed. Election 2007[2]

McCluer North High School and McCluer High School of the Ferguson-Florissant School District, and North Technical High School[10] are high schools found within Florissant. No Hazelwood School District high schools are found in the city but Hazelwood Northwest Middle School and several elementary schools are within the limits.[11][12]

Florissant is home to two theological colleges, an extension campus, and barber college. Saint Louis Christian College is a private four year undergraduate institution that is theologically and ecclesiastically associated with the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.[16] The Gateway College of Evangelism is located at the former St. Stanislaus Jesuit monastery and is theologically associated with the United Pentecostal Church International.[17] Lindenwood University has its offsite North County Campus located in the former Our Lady of Fatima School.[18] Missouri School of Barbering and Hairstyling-St Louis is also located in Florissant.[19]
