As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.

Saul Kaiserman - undelete request[edit]

 I noticed that

you were the editor who deleted 'Saul Kaiserman'. I'd ask that you undelete that bio/article. In support of my request, and in response to the criticisms made of the bio/article's noteworthiness, I am attaching some of my notes and relevant links below.

Saul Kaiserman is a recognized leader in the field of Jewish education, and an opinion leader in the scholarship re: birkat hamazon

Kaiserman's thesis was reprinted on an independent website: www.lookstein.org/resources/birkat_hamazon.pdf

Below is a link curriculum written based upon ideas gleaned from Kaiserman's writings on birkat. http://www.lookstein.org/lessonplans_output.php?id=-1721873

He was an invited/featured speaker at the Limmud 2007 conference on birkat and other topics in education: apps.limmudny.org/lny_2007/limmud_pub_schedule/schedule_v1.pl?op=p&id=409-10k-

999[edit]

999 recently received a short block for harassing Mattisse (block log). "Coincidentally", during this block period, someone created an account Plastic Leprechaun and made an intentional "error" on their second edit to their user page diff attempting to implicate Mattisse in sock-puppetry. They then created and redirected an entry called Plastic Paddyism to Celtic Reconstructionist Paganism, I'm assuming to insult editors who were involved in the Plastic PaddyAfD and the editors involved in the current Starwood Arb where 999 made the comment which got him /her blocked.

"Coincidentally" 999 is the editor who nominated Plastic Paddy for AfD.

I suspect Plastic Leprechaun is a sock puppet of 999 or one of the other parties involved. - WeniWidiWiki 21:13, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Cyrus Farivar[edit]

It's a misunderstanding of DRV's purpose to insist that any reversals of deletion require recourse to DRV. Slam dunks and clear-cut cases do not, and as Jimbo has previously said, this is a clear cut case where the consensus of AfD, should it opt to delete, is flat-out wrong. Phil Sandifer 01:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I have further elaborated my reasoning as to why this is not a circumstance for review on both DRV and AN. Phil Sandifer 01:33, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
There is disagreement and agreement with Phil's reasoning. You are invited to comment at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 February 7#Cyrus Farivar. GRBerry 14:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Not happy[edit]

You closed China as an emerging superpower with a 50-50 split in the votes, and discounted keep votes (including mine, which specified a clear rationale) at will so that you could justify deletion. This is outrageous. Everyking 07:01, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree. The point of an AfD is to determine consensus, not discount other people's opinions because you don't like them. --Hemlock Martinis 07:32, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
AFD is not a vote, many of them were invalid reasoning, i discounted from both sides by the way Jaranda wat's sup 16:23, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

DRV of Vanishing Point (alternate reality game)[edit]

Did you discuss with W.marsh before listing at DRV? If the two of you had come to agreement on the close, we could have avoided the discussion. Reactions setion to Anna Nicole[edit]

I would like for you to restore the reaction section to the Anna Nicole Smith section because I feel as I had explained earlier in the discussion page it is not about a memorial but it is a testament to the views people had of her when she died which is relevant to how she was viewed in life. As someone also previously stated he Steve Irwin has such a section. --Ozgod 12:03, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Ryan Leaf[edit]

I was looking at the article for copyediting, and the main thing I could find was that the referencing is spotty. In numerous instances the reference given does not actually confirm the entirety of the referenced statements.

For example, "In one locker room incident during Leaf's rookie year, he was caught on camera screaming at a reporter "Don't fucking talk to me alright! Knock it off!" and had to be physically restrained by teammate Junior Seau." is only indirectly referred to in the next ref:

"The next day, Leaf went on an obscenity-laced outburst toward a reporter who had written about an obscenity-laced outburst from Leaf the day before. That videotaped meltdown is still a staple of sports shows."

Circeus 15:47, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Extra content comments:
  • I moved the mention of Brady Leaf to the lead. Because the article redirects there, the relation should be made obvious as early as possible. It looks like Brady might get his own article too, so the mention will probably go there anyway.
  • Maybe the bit that used to be in Personal life and legacy could be expanded some? Brady's career seems to have had a few highlights of his own.
  • Also, I think there should be something about how he received the golf coach position because his quarterback coach is a volunteer position, and carthel wanted him to have a paid one.
Circeus 16:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I'll try to fix the concerns as soon as possible, first I need to work on another article that strongly needs fixing. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 06:17, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Obvious sockpuppetry[edit]

All you need to do is look at the comments he leaves. The writing style is the same, and he's interested in the same things that his other "cohorts" are. For instance, he somehow stumbled upon a particular administrator's talk page to help out his buddies. Look here. This reversion of Yamla's deletion was something like his fifth or sixth edit. Give me a break. –King Bee (TC) 23:30, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

My talk page[edit]

Hi Jaranda,

I'm tiring of this struggle over the Favre page just as much as everyone else, but I don't think it's necessary to remove comments placed by TheQueensHMS on my talk page, as you did here. I'm not sure if it's policy to do so if the user is banned, and if so, fine, but I'm trying to figure out the entire story as objectively as possible and edit warring over my user page makes that difficult. -- PSUMark2006 talk | contribs 04:06, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Banned users = the user is banned from wikipedia and all edits should be reverted if the user is found out to be a banned user rather fast, and all socks blocked in which that was the case here. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 06:19, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Fair enough. I guess I was just trying to resolve the dispute over the contested information being included on the article rather than the user's behavior, hence my interest in keeping dialogue going. But, at the same time, I understand WP:DENY and WP:BAN and will exercise a bit more discretion in the future when pursuing this sort of mediation. Thanks for stepping in and letting me know. User:Starwars1955[edit]

I hate to beat a dead horse here, but I notice you ban tagged the userpage and I can't seem to find any discussion where the individual in question was community banned. If this was discussed, could you send me a diff? If it wasn't I think the tag should probably be changed back to an indef and a community ban discussion started on the spiffy new community noticeboard. I think at this point the individual in question is disruptive enough that a Brett Farve topic ban is completely justified. Let me know when you get a chance. Thanks!--Isotope23 14:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Need third opinion[edit]

Would you please take a look at Yellow Submarine Improv Troupe (YSIT)? I am currently in a conflict with User:IrishGuy about this article. (Among others - he has been following me from article to article). In a nutshell: I removed a lot of uncited claims, unencyclopedic and/or vague language, and explanation of improv comedy. He says he disagrees with my removal of what he feels are claims to notability, but which I feel are uncited, vague references to people they hired to teach them. So he just reverts all of my edits, not just what he says he disagrees with.

As I said, this conflict has moved from article to article, as he reverts edits that I make to remove uncited material. Please, if I am doing anything wrong, tell me, but I really don't want to be in an edit war, and certainly not several of them. I am just trying to clean up all of the articles about non-notable comedy groups, and this one in particular has a lot of irrelevant or uncited claims.
