meditating the situatuion[edit]

Hi Jorge, I would appreciate it if you could do this when you have time.

The full account of problem is that.. Iranian articles are being attacked, incident has been reported here and after disputes mainly causes by these users reported on the Persian people article, this Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Cases/2006-03-02_Persian_people was started, but not only don't these users give up, and not accept any sources and reasons provided here, they have started yet another dispute on the Iranian people article. I believe this has to do with their nationalists ideology and has much political roots. We have invited many non-Iranian users to comment and none seems to support them, however I am not sure where to take it from here, if you want to start yet another mediation on the Iranian people dispute, please do so..unless you can give any other advise.

I do apologize for the hassel, but it has to be sorted out since there are many dedicated Iranian wikipedians who may be put off by these problems, and leave one by one, which wouldn't be in the interest of either Wikipedia and their Iran-related articles.

If you know any admins who specialise in such disputes, please do refer the situation to them --Kash 10:41, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

re:Adminship?[edit]

Hi Jorge. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm happy doing the things I do now, but it would be nice to have admin powers so that I could help-out with some of chores and not have to double the amount of work by reqesting admin actions for simple things. I'm not in any rush, though. I know you're pretty active in RfA, so you think I'm a shoe-in, then let's do it, otherwise I'd just as soon wait a little longer. Let me know what you think, and thanks again. ×Meegs 10:44, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi RenamedUser jaskldjslak901/Archive9 thank you for your support in my Rfa! It passed with a final tally of 86/0/0. If you need help or just want to talk let me know! Again, thank you! – Dakota ~ ° 16:17, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for voting[edit]

I'd just like to take a moment to thank you, Aranda56 for voting in my request for adminship regardless if you voted for or against me. Seeing some very valid concerns, I've pulled the RfA until some of the concerns can be addressed. Thanks for your comments, I'll use them to help better myself -- Tawker 02:21, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

My RfA[edit]

Thank you for your support during my RfA! It has decided to postpone making me an administrator based upon recent consensus (or lack thereof). Thanks for the kind remarks and I hope to continue to see you arount the project. Cheers, ZsinjTalk 08:33, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

My RfA[edit]

Thank you for your support in my request for adminship. I'm delighted that the RfA succeeded with a final consensus of 52/17/7, and receiving comments including having 'excellent potential to become a great moderator', and I am now an administrator. It did however only just pass, and I shall do my very best to rectify any of my errors, including the general belief that I should do more article work. If you have any concerns, or if you ever feel that I may be able to help you, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Again, thank you!

What's up?[edit]

I'd like Your feedback on My wiki progress -- Eddie, Sunday March 5 2006 at 03:20

RFA Thanks[edit]

Thank you!
Thank you for your support in my recent RFA. It passed 53/1/2 and I am now an administrator. I appreciate that some of you made exceptions to your usual requirements re length of service and so on because we've interacted positively in the past, or because of my credentials, so I will endeavour to use my new mop cautiously. I'm always open to feedback and gently constructive criticism. If you're not an admin and need some assistance do of course please let me know. Thanks again --kingboyk 00:23, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

P.S. If you are interested in The Beatles, User:Lar has asked me to tag on a little note advertising the creation of a new Beatles WikiProject that we are currently setting up. Please sign up and help.

Dead Presidents: Non-copyvio?[edit]

Hi, I see that you have removed Dead Presidents from the copy violation list of Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2006 March 5, without an edit being made to the article. I'm not sure why you did this. If I have raised it as a copyvio incorrectly (this the first one I have ever raised), I'd like to know how to avoid it in future. Thanks. Nuxx 07:50, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

RfA/Christopherlin[edit]

Thanks for voting in my recent RfA. It went without consensus (22/11/8), but I hope you'll reconsider next time I'm up. In the meantime, I'll try to get more up on "the process". --Christopherlin 17:24, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

My RfA[edit]

I'm leaving this macrophage, a particularly hungry white blood cell on your talk page, I just finished a rewrite of its article and realized they're not so different from administrators, as they keep their surroundings clean, doing away with anything that's not supposed to be there...
Anyway, with that short lecture on cell biology done with, I'd like to thank you for your vote on my RfA, which passed with (49/2/0), I'll do my best to not let you down, and if you see me heading towards a common newbie mistake, please nudge me in the right direction :)

Deleting a Page?[edit]

I saw you had just added a candidate for deletion. I wanted to list one too but i just ended up adding a link to the bottom of an article. Could you explain to me how you did it? I clearly missed something. This was the page I was going to submit List of Video Game Consoles A-Z.izret101 03:22, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I had done that in another wiki tab but didn't submit it. I loved tabbed browsing but tend to get out of hand with it... in anycase just another stupid mistake on my part. izret101 04:01, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

AfC and the GFDL[edit]

Jorge, when you create an article from WP:AFC, don't forget to note the article's submitter in the edit summary. Even though the text in these two cases originates from a PD book — and labeled as such — the submitter has, at the very least, done some wikification that must be credited to satisfy the GFDL. I made the note in today's two articles' second edit, so they're all set, but if there are any articles that you've created in the past, I'd be worth going back and checking to make sure you listed their original authors. ×Meegs 03:41, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Ok will do, I don't normally do WP:AFC. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 03:51, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Mark Murphy article[edit]

I exapanded your Mark Murphy article some. Next time you creat an article about an NFL player and don't have much info, I suggest you check him out at pro-football-reference.com or databasefootball.com. databasefootball.com is especially good for defensive players because it lists defensive and special teams stats, unlike pro-football-reference.com.

Also you can check wikipedia's Super Bowl articles or USA today's play-by-play Super Bowl list(Wikipedia's Super Bowl page has a link to it) to see if the player has made any great plays in a Super Bowl if he played in one.

And finally, pro-football-reference.com lists postseason stats for players, which is also usefull. However, it only does this for offensive plays.

--Chainclaw

For defensive players, you should check databasefootball.com, not PFR. Though I gotta admit Murphy was a little hard to find there because his name is spelled wrong for some reason.

Sports Illustrated...[edit]

Hey, haha. I guess I wasted my time uploading the images of those cards. Hopefully I didn't with all of the Sports Illustrated covers too. Should all of the Sports Illustrated covers be deleted or only the newer players like you said? Thanks--Phbasketball6 02:11, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Problem is that you need the images to be released under the GFDL or certian CC lisences which Topps is unlikely to accept. Doing a search on stock.xchng and then contacting the authors to get the imgages released into the public domain or under the GFDL or CC has been known to work.Geni 02:26, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Ok lets look at this image as an example. If you wanted to use it you would need contact pugoodwins to see if he would release it under a wikipedia compatible lisence (stock.xchng's standard lisence is not compatible with wikipedia). There is also Wikipedia:Requested pictures although that may not be massively fast.Geni 02:45, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
1956 is after tha start of popular photography so there may have been fans takeing pictures at that point. Not easy to find though.Geni 02:53, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yuko Aoki[edit]

Hello.
I'm going to re-open this AfD, it was a mistake to close this as a speedy keep. This was a sub-sub-sub-stub and no actual citations had been provided to indicate notability, just links to a google search. The article is still speedy deleteable as having no claim to notability. You also failed to put the "afdoldfull" link on the talk page.
