Proposed code amendments

[edit]
• avoid unit-conversion for AU (to Gigameter) and hours (to days). This clutters the infobox.
• avoid |mean_radius=. Mean figures should always be diameter, not radius. Lable dimension is unhelpfully vague. (Mean) radius-diameter relation is uncontroversial. Converting diameters (from publications) into radius is problematic: e.g. 31 km → 15.5 km. It can add to false precision, by adding decimals. This does not occur when converting radii from literature to diameters. "Dimensions" such as 205×185×170 km, as in 6 Hebe, may as well be called "diameter" (as long as the label does not say "mean" I don't see a problem)
• |MOID= Earth minimum intersection distance only used for NEOs
• |jupiter_moid= to be defined, used for JTs. Using only when < 0.5 AU?
• |tisserand= to be defined, used for JTs 1647 Menelaus. Using only when close to 3 or below?
• do not use invisible unicode chars, keep
• do not use   between figures and refs (seems to be fixed); always used between text and refs
• do not import figures for physical parameters using a "jpldata" cite. JPL frequently changes data (not always to the better). Use cite that refers to a bibcode. Make sure not to import already referenced figures due to different rounding or lack/presence of sigmas.
• sort parameters, instead of adding them to the end of infobox. E.g. |mean_motion= after |mean_anomaly=. Seems to be impossible with AWB

Proposed template amendments

[edit]

This concern {{Infobox planet}} only for minor planets. (minor planet = yes)

• Amending label: remove redundancy, abbreviate, avoid line-breaking labels (while maintaining links an tooltip info).
• Add new parameter number if number-parsing inside template is difficult/impossible. Unnumbered mp-articles have an empty parameter (or Zero according to ALCDEF-specification)

Future possible article expansions

[edit]
• add note, with link to Screenshot of light-curve (Pravec, when published on web)
• Spin axis (Poles):
• add figures (coordintes) to body
• add figures to new infobox param
• upload 3D-models, Wikimedia
• add external link to 3-D model website
• evaluate options for NPARs (tumblers), what makes sense and can be done reasonably?
• create external link template for standard ELs (LCDB, Discovery Circumstances, Google books, JPL (template itself)
• revise and complete spectra-type categories (Tholen/SMASS)
• re-group Hilda asteroids to own orbital group, using distinct color. Amend in accordance to LOMP
• revise all articles after new List of observatory codes is implemented
• revise TNO articles after new list of TNOs is implemented
