Business Performance management

Business Performance Management is a process finding the methods and systems needed to manage the performance of an organization. The main idea includes application, data, and clients. The main focus is planning, budgeting, forecasting and business intelligence. The goals of the organization will determine how they use the methods available to them. In most cases, an organization will use pre-selected goals and develop a plan to accomplish these goals. This process is done to insure that the organization will continue to grow and become more successful.

History

Business Performance Management was introduced in the 1970's, the systems can analyse one department at a time. In 1980, the information systems were introduced. In 1990 business performance management was improved by using computer technology.Business intelligence became the key to speeding up business. This also improved reporting, planning and business analysis. In 2001 Corporate performance management was introduced, also known as business performance management.

Methodology

The methods that are used in business performance management are; balanced score card, activity-based costing, Six sigma, Theory of constraints, and integrated strategic measurement. The balanced score card is used the most. The score card is a standard structured report supported by design methods and automation tools which is used to keep track of the activities that the staff has activated within their control.

Software applications

There are several tools that have been developed to make it easier to keep track of raw data and put large amounts of information in a organized format.
