Richard Leblanc (born August 18, 1965) is a Canadian lawyer, governance expert, academic and public speaker. He received his B.Sc. from University of Toronto in 1989, an MBA from University of Toronto in 1991, a Bachelor of Laws from University of Windsor in 1994, a Juris Doctor from University of Detroit in 1994, a Master of Laws from York University in 1997, and a PhD focused on Boards of Directors from York University in Toronto, Canada, in 2003.

Leblanc is an experienced educator, author and consultant. He has taught at York University, where he is an Associate Professor, Governance, Law & Ethics,[1] and Harvard University, where he teaches Corporate Governance[2] at the Harvard Summer School. His co-authored and edited books include Inside the Boardroom: How Boards Really Work and The Coming Revolution in Corporate Governance (2005) and The Handbook of Board Governance: A Comprehensive Guide for Public, Private and Not-for-Profit Board Members (2016). Leblanc regularly advises and speaks to boards, regulators and company directors across all sectors.

Leblanc has received many awards for his work over the years, including Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Award™ (2004), being named to Canada’s Who’s Who (2010), the Seymour Schulich Award for BBA Teaching Excellence (1998), a Teaching Award from the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (2011), and the Joyce Borden-Reed Distinguished Contribution Award from Governance Professionals of Canada (2017).
