Fresh Sounds From Middle America (vol 5) was fifth album in the Lawrence, KS based series of comilation albums. The first two albums in the series were cassette only releases, the next two volumes were released on vinyl, and this volume was the first to be released on compact disc.

The "Fresh Sounds" series was organized by Bill Rich, of Talk Talk magazine, ^[1] as a way to promote regional bands nationally. ^[2] ^[3]
