The 2019–20 season is Fortuna Becicherecu Mic's 5th season in existence, and their 3nd consecutive season in the top flight of Romanian women's football.

Season review[edit]

July and August[edit]

Early July, during the summer transfer window, Fortuna signed capped national team players Maria Neacșu and Adina Rognean.[1][2]

At the beginning of August, the team also signed another capped national team player, Nicoleta Deca out of early retirement.

On the 11th of August, the team played an international friendly match with serbian league team ŽFK Zemun.

The league started early with an eagerly awaited derby:[3][4] on 25 August Fortuna debuted at home against champions Olimpia Cluj in a 0-3 loss.[5][6][7]

September[edit]

In the second league round match played on the 1st of September, Fortuna won at Baia Mare against Independența.

Just at the end of the transfer window, Lidia Șuveț left the team for Piroș Security Arad, while moldova national team player Dumitrița Prisăcari joined the team.[8]

Also, Sorin Brândescu, associate professor at the West University of Timișoara became general manager of the team.

In round 3 Fortuna thrashed Universitatea Alexandria with a 6-0 home win on 8 September, while a week later, on 15 September it registered a 7-0 away win with CSȘ Târgoviște.

For the second part of the month, Fortuna took a break, while none of its players were called up for the national teams.

October[edit]

On the 12th of October, the league continued with round 5, where Fortuna beat Luceaf[rul Filiași at home with a whopping 10-0, while on 20 October it won the away game against Fair Play Bucure;ti with 7-1.

Fortuna also found out its first Romanian Cup opponent, Bihor United.

In the seventh round played on 27 October, Fortuna managed to secure a tight 2-0 home win agains newly promoted Piroș Security Arad.

November[edit]

Two of its player were called up for the national team. Moldova's Dumitrița Prisăcari and Bianca Ienovan was called up for the Romania senior national team for the first time, previously having played only for under-17 and under-19 teams.

On 3 November Fortuna defeated 3-0 Heniu Prundu Bârgăului in an away match, while on 8 October it travelled to oradea to play in the 2nd round of the Romanian Cup against Bihor united. However, the match did not take place because of the absence of an ambulance, so Fortuna was awarded a 3-0 forfait win.

On 17 November, the team was narrowly defeated at home by rivals Universitatea Galați, 1-0 in round 9 of Liga I. A week later, on 24 November, Fortuna received the visit of Selena SN Constanța in round 10, and covincingly won with 7-0.

Round 11 was a tough match, as Fortuna was to travel to Odorheiu Secuiesc to meet Vasas Femina, on 30 November, on the eve of the National Day. The match ended in a tie, 1-1 with DUmitrița Prisăcari being awarded a red card. Due to this tie, Fortuna finished the first half of the planned season in third place, after U Olimpia Cluj and Universitatea Galați.

December-February[edit]

On 15 December, Fortuna participated at Laura Rus indoor futsal cup.

On 15 January 2020, it was announced that general manager Sorin Brândescu will take over the coach position form Florin Pădurean and Andra Vela, the two becoming assistant coaches.

On 5 February, a new transfer was announced - youth player Clara Roșu joined the team. As she was 15 and eligible for league games, she immediately joined the first team.

In order to prepare for the second part of the Liga I, Fortuna played a series of international friendlies - against ŽFK TSC, won by 1-0 and offered ŽFK Zemun a rematch in Serbia, which was won by the hosts with 2-0.

After playing a friendly against Liga III's Politehnica Timișoara, Fortuna played a rematch at home against ŽFK TSC, which was won 4-2.

5 players were called up for the Romanian national teams which participated in friendly tournaments in Turkey- captain Cristina Codrescu, Claudia Bistrian for the senior team, while Cosmina Roșu, Bianca Ienovan and Larisa Grigore for the under-19 team.

oana Stoianov left for Banat Girls Reșița, while Mariana Voinea was loaned for the remainder of the season to Piroș Security Arad.

In the round of 16 of the Romanian Cup, Fortuna was to meet Banat Girls Reșița. The game was iniltially postoponed, then due to the COVID-19 panddemic ,was postponed indefinitely.

The rest of the season was also cancelled, so Fortuna finished the League on 3rd place, as the standings were frozen to those on 1 December, the last date any league game was played.
