Wikipedia is so funny

[edit]

I don't like vandalism, although sometimes... ok, sometimes I see something funny. Not often.... Rarely. Kids, please don't vandalize. I do like sincere misfires.. and pondering who may have written some of the more interesting comments. These are real edits, that once existed in Wikipedia articles but are now just funny memories. Only the context has been skewed for my own sad entertainment.

from Britney Spears
"On the evening of January 3, 2008, after not sleeping for over four days police were called to Spears's home...."
And boy, were they ever cranky! If you're a police officer and you haven't slept for over four days, the last thing you need is to be called over to Britney's place.

from Sally Rand
"She also conceived and developed the bubble dance, in part to cope with wind while performing outdoors."
The bubble dance has saved me from several embarrassing situations! Thank you, Sally Rand!

from Olivia de Havilland
"Along with Luise Rainer and Joan Fontaine, de Havilland is one of the last surviving adult female film stars from Hollywood of the 1930s."
Heartening news for admirers of vintage porn.

from Susan Lucci
"Phyllis Diller, contrary to various internet rumors, is not her mother."
Admit it, you were wondering.

from Phyllis Diller
""One of Phyllis's offspring is not actress Susan Lucci."
But the other five
are.

from Let's Make Love
"While ending the song, Monroe gave a sexy pose by attempting to bite Vaughan."
Nobody quite gives a "sexy pose" like Marilyn Monroe attempting to bite Vaughan. Especially if you happen to be Vaughan.

from Gloria Holden
"In 1931 Gloria Holden had a son who was six years of age."
Ouch! Good for you, Gloria Holden.

from Gloria Holden
"Gloria Holden was an enthusiastic cyclist."
Enough said! Cycling should be done with gusto or not at all. Was this also in 1931? If so, I can only admire Gloria Holden even more.

from Vera-Ellen
"She appeared in several 1950s films, including ... On the Town (1949),... Words and Music (1948) ... [and] Love Happy (1949). "
Little known fact about the 1950s : they started in 1948.

from Lupe Vélez
"In 1943, she returned to Mexico and starred in the movies La Zandunga (1938) and..."
Little known fact about 1943 : In Mexico, 1943 took place in 1938. So there!

from Cher
"Cher was nominated for her 2nd and 3rd Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal with Sonny & Cher. She lost to both Carole King and the Carpenters respectfully."
Back in Cher's more humble, pre-legend days.

from Deanna Durbin
"Every now and then God bestows an extraordinary gift—whether it be intelligence, beauty of form, beauty of voice or character—onto a mortal, not as a personal possession but as the means of offering profound happiness to the world, most of all to the lives of other human beings. Such a treasure becomes a ceaseless responsibility—a jewel to be guarded with utmost care—to be cared for and manifested with wisdom and virtue."
I always wondered why the mere thought of Deanna Durbin made me beam with joy, trill like a nightingale and vomit just a little. Now I know.

from Ruby Keeler
"She sang off-key as if it were her religion and her dancing looked like a bundle of sticks rolling down stairs."
Why would Ruby need to sing in tune, when she can dance like a bundle of sticks rolling down stairs? That's not something everybody can do. It requires the talent of ... well, Ruby Keeler.

from Bruce Willis
"In 2007 he was voted as the single greatest human being to ever walk the earth, knocking out such contenders as Jesus, Ghandi, and Alec Baldwin."
To even be mentioned in the same sentence as Jesus, Ghandi and Alec Baldwin should be honour enough, but to actually win!

from Greta Garbo
In 2009, the above sentence became this article's second most irrelevant sentence, next to this one."
Bet you're wondering what "the above sentence" was? I'm not going to tell you. C'mon it's Greta Garbo! It should be mysterious!

from Al Kikume
"He was born in either Honolulu or Kansas..."
C'mon folks. We're an encyclopedia. Pick one! I've never been to Honolulu or Kansas, but are they similar? Or near each other? This sounds like my mother talking on the phone to my aunt, so I can only assume she's now editing here. Hi Mum.

from Graham Norton
"Immediately after hosting the BAFTAs in 2009, he said he returned home only to fall down his stairs and break two ribs."
Seems like a pretty stupid reason to return home, if you ask me.

from Glenda Jackson
"She is the only Member of Parliament to have received an Academy Award."
The other members clearly need to lift their games.

from Ryan Reynolds
"Reynolds will also be staring in the upcoming DC superhero movie, Green Lantern..."
I tend to expect a little more from an actor. I suggest occasional blinking to break the monotony.

from Kylie Minogue
"She is the more beautiful and more talented older sister of Dannii Minogue."
No argument from me, and it's nice to finally see Kylie Minogue editing Wikipedia. Welcome, Kylie!

from Dannii Minogue
"DANII MINOGUE IS THE BIGGEST KNOB HEAD EVER!!!!"
I'm not sure about this, but you make a valid point with your edit summary "IT'S ABOUT TIME SOMEBODY TOLD HER!!!!" ... well OK, I'll leave it.

from Kylie Minogue
"Her continued good looks, fine bone structure, taut body and – yes – exquisite derriere have become international obsessions."
Hi again Kylie. Your edits seem to be following a particular theme.

from Kylie Minogue
"She is revered – particularly in the tabloid press – for her pert bottom."
I have nothing more to say on this subject.

from My very own talk page!
"Rossrs, your behaviour is absolutely unacceptable. I came on your page, and very politely apologised for the misunderstanding."
Well, that's really none of my business. I'm flattered, maybe even a little curious, but a simple "I'm sorry" is all I needed.

Celebrities being bad

And I do like funny celebrities.

(Click 'em. You gotta see 'em big!)

Wikipedia editors are just great

[edit]
I'm not sure what I find funnier – an editor trying to work out how to fix a template so that it automatically defaults when Amy Winehouse dies, or User:Rodhullandemu's brilliant reply. (Stolen from User:Wildhartlivie)
