CHORADI AGUNI

The Village -Choradi Aguni (चोराड़ी अगुनी), tehsil Surajgarh, district Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan (India) situated between two towns Surajgarh and Buhana on the MDR-64. it is the shortest rout to Delhi from Chirawa via Surajgarh, Buhana, Pacheri. The village is 13 KM away from Surajgarh, 9 KM from Buhana and 25 KM from Chirawa & Pilani. The nearest other cities/towns are Singhana, Khetri, Jhunjhunu. The village is situated in the north-east part of Shekhawati region of Rajasthan.

According to folk legend, the name of the village – 'Choura-ri'@ was given on the 'gotra' of a Yadav family, since this family was already living at this place and in the honor of yadav family, the name of the village was given on his 'gotra' as 'Choura' by Shri Gheesa Singh Tanwar. (He shifted from 'Badbar'). After colonized this village by Shri Gheesa Singh Tanwar, he was the head of the village.

There is a "Sri Krishna and Hanuman" temple in between the village. Here, God grants the wishes of true devotees. At the time of ruler system, the Surajgarh was under the 'Bisau thikana' and Choradi was under Surajgarh thikana. The ruler of Surajgarh thikana was Thakur Shri Raghuveer Singh Shekhawat. The village comes under the Surajgarh constituency. The nearest Railway Station, Police Station, shopping center and Mandi are also in Surajgarh. The distance, by road as well as by railway of the state capital of Jaipur is around 190 KM from the Choradi Aguni.

The Rajput (Rathore {Mertiya}, Shekhawat, Tanwar, Bhati), Jat, Brahman, Prajapat and other castes are residing in this village. Mertiya of Bagar, Choradi and Agwana villages are the descendant of Thakur Shri Devi Singh Mertiya [father-in-law of Ruler of the Jhunjhunu state, Thakur Shri Sardul Singh ji Shekhawat]. The Rathore of Choradi migrated from "Poonglota", Tehsil-Parbatsar, Distt. Nagaur to Bagar (distt, Jhunjhunu) more than 225 years ago. After the death of Shri Chain Singh Mertiya (son of Thakur Devi Singh Mertiya), Thakurani Sahiba had shifted from Bagar to Choradi along with her four sons namely Shri Syonath Singh, Shri Hukum Singh, Shri Dheer Singh and Shri Ugar Singh. The Rathore of Choradi thikana are the sub-clan of Rao Dudaji. Rao Dudaji is founder of the Merta City. The shekhawat (bhojraj ji ka) of Choradi village had also migrated from Ponkh (Guda-Ponkh), Distt. Jhunjhunu.

There are around 400 houses in the village in which around 175 houses are of Rajput families. The Choradi Aguni village has population of around 1800 as on 2015.
