WinWeb is a discontinued Web browser for Microsoft Windows.[1] WinWeb and MacWeb, a related internet browser specifically designed to work with Classic Mac OS, were both made by TradeWave .[2] Development on WinWeb started in early 1995 following the launch of Windows 95 and Windows 9x itself (although WinWeb was functional with 3x and NT)

A major competitor of WinWeb and MacWeb was Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. This lead to development on both operating systems to be haulted and ultimately be discontinued and becoming freeware/abandonware.

Features[edit]

WinWeb was a small and somewhat strong internet browser with a built in newsreader.[1] It required WINSOCK DLL 1.1 or greater to function properly on a computer. Features such as automatic image loading, the ability to load documents into files and proxy server co-operation were built in with the browser for simpler usage.[3] Search options on the browser would've been able to have been restricted to just the Galaxy Index (TradeWave corp. maintained the Galaxy WWW search index). The homepage of the WinWeb browser included a download link on its website alongside downloading instructions.[3]
