Zensah is a sports apparel company that focuses on using cutting edge technology to design and create compression apparel to help athletes improve their performance. The company name "Zensah" comes from the Italian word "senza" meaning "without" because the people of Zensah believe athletes should be "without limits". Athletes of all sports and the United States Navy SEALs use Zensah products. Zensah products consist of shirts, bras, arm sleeves, shorts, leg sleeves, calf sleeves, socks, and hats, and they give the athlete greater comfort, mobility, and overall performance. Zensah is an online business whose sales and marketing office is based out of Miami, Florida.[1]

Founding[edit]

Zensah was founded in 2004. It is an internet based company whose merchandise is also sold in select sportswear stores across the country. The company immediately took off after introducing the first seamless compression shirt, which was adopted by the NBA. In 2006, Zensah introduced the Muscle and Recovery Leg Sleeves, and many other products have been released to the market since then, such as compression bras, arm sleeves, shorts, socks, and hats.[2]

CEO Ze'ev Feig[edit]

Ze'ev Feig is the founder and current CEO of Zensah. His passion for running and sports inspired him to start his own business, and he wanted it to revolutionize the sportswear industry. A major feature he focused on that sets Zensah compression apparel apart from other brands was eliminating seams. [3] This proved to be very effective as the company showed tremendous growth for the first four years. However, due to the credit crunch of 2008, Feig had trouble getting money for continued expansion. Feig had a credit score of about $100,000 in untapped equity and a profitable business, but the bank still denied him the loan he needed. Knowing that Zensah would continue to expand quickly with the proper funding, Feig continued to look for an alternative and found his answer in peer-to-peer lending. [4]

Innovation[edit]

The company name "Zensah" comes from the Italian word "senza" meaning "without". The people at Zensah believe in athletes "without limits". They use cutting edge technology to create the compression apparel that eliminates limiting performance factors of circulation and oxygen blood flow, swelling, and recovery time.[1] They use graduated compression to increase circulation and oxygen blood flow, hence increasing endurance and performance. They also use pin-point compression to reduce pain. Compression helps to stabilize muscle tissues and reduce inflammation, causing a decrease in recovery time.[5][6] Another innovative feature of Zensah compression apparel is the silver ions imbedded in every one of their products. The silver makes the clothing anti-bacterial, eliminates odors, and helps regulate body temperatures. All compression apparel made by Zensah is seamless and composed of the softest materials for maximum comfort and to prevent chafing. They also use moisture wicking to keep the person dry by pulling the sweat away from the skin to the outer layer of the material for faster evaporation. All Zensah apparel can be worn before, during, and after exercise in all weather conditions.[7][8]

People Using Zensah[edit]

Athletes[edit]

Zensah compression apparel is worn by athletes of all sports but is most commonly seen on runners, cyclists, marathon and triathlon athletes, and members of the NBA.

U.S. Navy SEALs[edit]

One of the reasons United States Navy SEALs wear Zensah compression apparel is because silver ions are embedded in the material. Many times SEALs have to wear the same shirt for weeks, and the silver helps fight against the growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This eliminates odors, reducing the risk of a scent trail. The Zensah apparel also helps regulate body temperature, keeping them warm when it is cold and cool when it is hot. Zensah products provide SEALs with the most comfortable apparel that enhances the SEALs' performance, keeps them light and dry, and allows them to remain the best trained operatives of the world.
