Green-Wood Cemetery
Green wood cemetery is one of the most prominent historical sites in NYC. Its beauty and incredible monuments attract many tourists/visitors and has gained a very reputable position. It's one of the most prestigious place to be buried in and it also includes graves of many well known historical figures.
This cemetery is very significant in our political history because in 1776 the first and the most important battle, the Battle of Brooklyn of the American Revolutionary war took place in the grounds of this beautiful cemetery. The Revolutionary war was the epitome of our independence from Great Britain and it led to the creation of the United States, also known as the "land of the free." During the 19th and the 20th century, many considered it a pleasure to be buried in this cemetery. One of the most known concert that takes place in this cemetery is the annual Memorial Day concert, which brings together thousands of people. Many years ago, the Greenwood heights area wasn’t much known. Now, as many residents have moved in this place has become very prominent. Over time, there were several parks built among them are the slope park playground, sunset park, Windsor Terrace and prospect park. However the weather is still a big problem for the cemetery because due to storms and heavy rain some of the old structures of the cemetery has been damaged.
