what it does

[edit]

It posts the rating onto the talk page within a template, and adds in the revision id, username of the rater, and timestamp, along these lines:

{{Quality assessment
 |oldid = 535731655
 |comprehensiveness = 1
 |sourcing = 0
 |neutrality = 0
 |readability = 0
 |formatting = 0
 |illustrations = 0
 |rater = User:PolicyRocker15
 |time = ~~~~~
}}

The "calculated rating" (not a necessary feature) uses the scores to calculate the Stub/Start/C/B rating of the article, the same way as described here. That's purely for the user's benefit, as the template will do the same calculation so the calculated rating doesn't need to be included in the template.
