Haro Stepanian (Armenian: Հարո (Արա) Լևոնի Ստեփանյան; 1897—1966) — Armenian Soviet composer Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1951). People's Artist of the Armenian SSR (1960).

Born April 13 (April 25) 1897 в Elizavetpol (now Ganja, Azerbaijan). In 1923 — 1926 годах studied at the Gnesins Music College in the composition class of М. Gnesin.

In 1930 graduated Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov Leningrad State Conservatory in the composition class of Vladimir Shcherbachov.

In 1930 — 1934 taught at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan.

In 1937 — 1948 the chairman of the organizing committee of the Union of Composers of the Armenian SSR.

In his chamber vocal and instrumental compositions, a special place is occupied by psychologically profound, philosophical lyrics. The best works of Stepanian are distinguished by realistic images and bright national identity. His music is associated with national Armenian music, as well as Russian and Western European musical classics.

Actively participated in folklore expeditions.

Died January 9, 1966 in Yerevan, Armenia
