Utilitarianism is a school of thought associated most closely with Jeremy Bentham. The main tenet of the Utilitarian philosophy is the "Greatest Happiness Principle ", which asserts that it is the duty of "Individuals to maximize the happiness of greatest number of beings...". The Utilitarian prescription, however, is different to the fate of the "lesser number", the minority. Moreover, Utilitarian view of human nature, according to which self-interest determines one's actionss, leaves little space for ideas of goodness and morality.
