Ambulance:Brief History

We are feared when we hear the sound of an Ambulance rashing through the roads,to save the life of a human." Someone seems to be struggling for life,or seems to be injured in an accident;So it is hurrying ",we think.

Ambulance is a vehicle to bring the patient to the hospital who are living their last minutes. "He is so lucky to have been saved by you.Thanks to your help,he has been admitted in the right time "is the verse we hear at hospitals.It plays a major role in admitting the patient in the hospital,at the right time.

We shall see about how this Ambulance came into existence.

11th century,when the Christians were engaged in the Crusades,the workers of St.John,the capital of Antigua and Barbuda,were advised by the Arabian and Greekdoctors on administering a First aid.

After that,the workers of St.John worked as emergency volunteers.They administered First Aid to those who were injured in the Battle.The next phase is moving them to the nearby Medical Camps.The vehicle made for moving them is the Ambulance.This service was first started by the workers of St.John,Europe.At the same time,the military men also engaged in this work. Rewards were granted to those who serviced well in getting injured militants to the camps.

Military's Head Doctor Baron Dominique-Jean Larrey was the first to create an official Medical Troop.Those who learned there,were sent to battlefields to administer First Aid to the injured.At the next phase,they were taken to the hospitals by Cart.This was the function of Ambulance at those times.

Modern-Ambulances were used from the 20th century.In the1950s when the Korean War was on,The United States used Helicopter ambulances for emergency.
