Bio

[edit]

I live in the Pacific Northwest, where the scenery is always breathtaking. By taking hikes, and exploring the various nature locations in the Pacific Northwest, I am able to enjoy nature as well as explore the state I live in. I am currently attending community college, and is looking to transfer to a four year university to become an elementary school teacher. I enjoy reading, watching movies and TV shows, as well as listening to various genres of music.

I have used Wikipedia before as a resource to get basic background information when doing research for my classes, but I have never gotten involved with the community of Wikipedia itself. In Wikipedia, I am interested in researching about random subjects- musical artists, bands, TV shows, characters from books/movies/shows.

Article critique

[edit]

Music has been around for thousands of years. As humans we seek for sounds that draw our attention, like a lion roaring, warning us of danger. But music has also helped us express ourselves creatively, as well as how one feels when frustrated, angry, sad, or happy. I have been listening to this band for a few years now, and wanted to do further research on them, so I visited the “The Cab” page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the lack of citations, links not recent, and little to none biased claims/language.

Citations

[edit]

Though there is a good amount of citations in the article, towards the end of the page there are some statements that need citations. The Warped Tour and the Alternative Press Tour are popular tours for rock bands to perform at; the schedules for the performances from The Cab can possibly be found through the Way Back Machine website. By doing so, the links could not be found to determine whether or not The Cab performed during the dates listed in the article.

[edit]

As I was clicking through the links, I noticed that the official website of the band has not been updated since 2014. Now the band’s leader, Alex DeLeon, has mentioned that they are taking a break, but the website has no links besides their social media links, official web store, and link to their EP, Lock Me Up, from 2014.

Biased claims/language

[edit]

While reading the article, Wikipedia users used very little to none biased claims and language. This helps the people that search up "The Cab" to know the general background of the rock band without being influenced by opinions and biases towards the band.

Conclusion

[edit]

“The Cab” Wikipedia page is okay as it still needs a few tweaks. Overall, the page gives the reader a general background of who the band is, and what they have endured throughout their career. Now that being said, there is some unreliable sources sited within the page, possibly making the information about the band inaccurate.
