Mr. Sayed Ishaq Gailani is the son of Mr. Sayed Ali Gailani (Shir Aqa Jan) and the grandson of Dear Naqib Sahib. Mr. Gailani was born in 1954 in Shahr e Naw, Kabul. He grew up under the supervision of his sofi father in Kabul. He completed his primary and secondary education in Masod e Sad School and completed high school education at Nadiria High School. Mr. Gailani excelled in school and received a scholarship to study Political Science in Tehran University of Iran. Upon his graduation from Tehran University, he completed his LLB. Mr. Gailani belongs to a highly respected spiritual Sofi family in Afghanistan.
Mr. Gailani migrated to Afghanistan soon after the USSR invasion in Afghanistan and began his holy war against the USSR forces and their Afghan supporters in Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Zabul, Ghazni, Kunar and Kandahar Provinces. He also worked with the "National Islamic Front of Afghanistan" and the "National Liberation Front of Afghanistan", led by Pir Sayed Ahmad Gailani and Mr. Sibghatullah Mujadidi, respectively, in various high-ranking positions. Soon after the defeat of the USSR forces, Mr. Gailani began his efforts for peace-building, national solidarity, and unity. Mr. Gailani has participated in various seminars, conferences and gatherings in Afghanistan and around the world. He continues to pass on the voice of Afghans to the international community.
Mr. Gailani and his team established a party, named the "National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan" (NSMA) in 2002. The party registered with the Ministry of Justice after the creation of the new constitution in 2004. Mr. Gailani was the first Presidential candidate from his party. Mr. Gailani was the only party leader to gain the support of various tribes in the country. There are offices in most of the Provinces in Afghanistan.
Mr. Gailani traveled to Logar, Zabul, Paktika, Nangarhar and Ghazni Provinces and motivated people to support peace in the country and to pave the road for democracy to take root for the generations that follow. International travel included visits to the United States Congress, the Parliament of Holland, Surban Justice of Paris, Social Democrat and Christian Democrat parties of Germany, Mr. Cole and other members of the European Union parliament, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Minister of Foreign affairs of Switzerland, government authorities of Holland, Russia and India, Prime Ministers and various Ministers of Pakistan over the past 18 years, and participation in U.S. hearings in 1995.
In addition, Mr. Gailani has cooperated closely with Amnesty International for the protection of well-known people of Afghanistan from terrorism and KOFA, for the introduction of affected and injured Afghans to the European countries for medical treatment. He has worked with the U.N. to pass on the recommendations and proposals of the educators, elders and religious leaders of Afghanistan for the disarmament of the armed people and to bring peace and security to the country by the establishment of a stable and strong government. Over time he has worked with the different U.N. representatives for Afghanistan. In 1992, when there was a heavy fighting among the different parties in the capital city of Kabul, Afghanistan, and the roads around the city were not safe for travel, he evacuated the U.N. and NGOs staff members safely from Kabul to Pakistan. Mr Gailani has worked over the years with the Government of Pakistan for the solving of day-to-day problems of Afghan Refugees and Afghan traders. He has facilitated the opening of roads to support villages to receive food supplies in many provinces of Afghanistan.
