Production[edit]

Shelley Duvall[edit]

Wendy Torrance was famously portrayed by Shelley Duvall in Stanley Kubrick's 1980 film adaptation of the novel The Shining. The role has become notorious for the on-set fueding between Duvall and Kubrick, which would result in Duvall becoming increasingly dehydrated due to crying, and her hair beginning to fall out due to stress. Kubrick would repeatedly torment Duvall to get a better performance out of her, which would include performing multiple takes and Kubrick verbally tormenting Duvall. Duvall would later be nominated for a Razzie Award for Worst Actress for her performance as Torrance. [1][2]
