Bio

[edit]

I am a giant nerd. Most of my time is spent going to school, listening to music, and watching TV with my mom.  I love learning everything that I can. I especially enjoy learning different languages, math, and history.

I use Wikipedia a lot. I am extremely forgetful, so I will use all sorts of different Wikipedia's to help fill in the occasional gaps that show up. The topics that I tend to look up the most are related to music, TV shows, and video games. I also use Wikipedia to help write papers for school. Whenever I don't know too much about a topic, I start at a basic wiki page and move outward.

Article evaluation

[edit]

One of my most favorite books is The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. I've never really liked reading but this book was so interesting I read the whole series. I visited the Jeanne DuPrau page on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: citations, completeness, and voice.

Citations

[edit]

As I was looking through the article I saw that there didn't seem to be any citations. I went to the citations section and found that there were only three citations all of them referencing reviews from some of her books. They all seem to be up to date. Two of the three are reviews from a library or a website that does reviews for all types of books. The third one is a bit odd because it's from the National Space Society. The NSS is a nonprofit group that advocates for education about space. In addition to that none of the very few facts about the author have any citations.

Completeness

[edit]

This article is very short. There are only two sentences about her. The article says nothing about her life, like where she went to school or who all is in her family. For example, I did a little research on her and found that she was a teacher at some point in her life and the Wikipedia article says nothing about it.

Voice

[edit]

Throughout the article, the tone of voice used is neutral, except for the book reviews which are cited. The facts about where she was lives and about the movie adaptation of one of her books have a factual tone. The only problem is that there isn't a way of knowing that those facts are true without further research.

Summary

[edit]

I would say that this is a very basic article.  The article could go deeper into things about her life. There could also a lot more citations more evenly dispersed throughout the article. I feel like this article has tons of potential to be a great article it just has not reached that point yet.
