CHALLENGES FACED BY SCHOOL COORDINATORS AND THEIR ROLE

INTRODUCTION

School Coordinators (SC) are teachers or administrators who are volunteered on behalf of their schools to ensure that the Field Experience is conducted in accordance with the tenets School. School Coordinators play a key role in making school programs successful. They are responsible for driving the program and ensuring it is integrated into the wider practice of the school. School Coordinators will be members of the school’s senior leadership team and will be accountable to the principal. They will influence the thinking and practice of colleagues and other stakeholders across the school community. The role and responsibility of a school co-coordinator are full of challenges and responsibilities. He or she plays a key leadership role in supporting and guiding the students and teachers. They act as a facilitator and are responsible for translating and implementing the School objectives which include vision, mission, and values of the School. School coordinators play an important role in making school programs successful.

ROLES OF THE SCHOOL COORDINATOR

1. Coordinating with the teachers, students, and other stakeholders. 2. Responsible for the administration and academics. 3. Actively involved with the lesson plans of the teachers and gives her inputs to make it more appropriate. 4. Responsible for the professional development of the teachers. 5. Acts as a facilitator and implements the vision, mission, and values of the school. 6. Responsible for conducting extra-curricular activities like sports, events, etc. 7. Developing a creative learning environment across the school. 8. Act as a liaison between parents, teachers, students, and administrators.

CHALLENGES FACED BY THE COORDINATORS

School coordinators occupy an important role in every school. They have multiple roles and responsibilities as stated above. Due to a wide variety of roles, they face a lot of challenges and issues. Some of the key challenges faced by the School coordinators are: 1. Time Management issues: Allocating time for different activities is a big challenge for coordinators. They are expected to communicate in a timely manner and adhere to the time schedule of various activities like working on unit plans, events, etc. Getting to know the students, adapting to the class activities and ease of communication with parents are some of the other challenges. 2. Planning events involve coordinating with various stakeholders. This is a big challenge for coordinators. 3. The coordinator always works for consensus in a group without giving any scope of clash of personalities. This will ensure the smooth conduct of all activities. 4. Managing: Parents expect a lot from the teachers and their wards. They always expect excellent teachers from schools and excellent performance from their wards. Balancing the parent’s expectations and the actual performance of the students is a very big challenge.

CONCLUSION

Coordinators occupy a very important role in schools. Since they do a variety of roles and face a lot of challenges they need to be supported by all stakeholders. This will help the coordinators to do their job properly and ensure the overall development of the school and students.
