*snapshot* NYC was created by Shana Fried, Andrea Berman, Trish Noe and Nicco Beretta in March of 2004 as a weekly mixed queer party that sought to eliminate the segregation then existing within the city's LGBTQ community and to help advance the city's growing LGBTQ visibility. At the time of its birth, the queer community experienced division
*snapshot* events gained widespread recognition within New York City's queer community and soon spread nationally and even internationally. The company's annual Proud As F*ck" celebration, held on New York City's Gay Pride hosted 1100 people its inaugural year and expanded to nearly 2,000 in 2012. The event attracts patrons from all over the globe and talents from as far away as Australia. Fried ceased regular operations of *snapshot* in 2011 in order to focus more on her law firm, but continues to host events throughout the year.
