Gustav Freudenberg (born 19 April 1876 - 29 June 1906) was a German track cyclist who was active between 1897 and 1906.[1]
Freudenberg worked as a miner and started with cycling when he was 18 years old. After a few years of cycling he met Thaddäus Robl in Munich in 1898 and started riding with him on the tandem. First they competed locally and later at bigger competitions, like in Berlin-Friedenau and rode competitions in Belgium and the Netherlands. They had success and broke several records. Freudenberg went on military service in 1903 and 1904 and started again with cycling afterwards.[1][2]
On 29 April 1906 he fell during a competition in Magdeburg due to a pacemaker who was leaning against the barrier. An artery in his right leg was torn open and he bled to death. He was 30 years old. His funeral took place on 5 May 1906 in Berlin.[1][2]
