Experiments and measurements form the basis of Physics. Hence there is definite need for measurements in Physics. We get the knowledge of the surrounding through the sense of vision, hearing, touch ,smell it cetera .However these quantities cannot be measured accurately by personal judgement. To measure and study phenomena in physics we have to perform experiments based on the observations of physical phenomenon we developed various laws and theories. Similarly experimental verification of various theories needs measurements of physical quantities .Physics being quantitative science accurate measurements of physical quantities are needed at every stage .Many times discrepancies observed in the theoretical and experimental values led to the development of new theories and formulae.
