ANAIKARANCHATHIRAM new article content ... Anaikaranchathiram, also known popularly as kollidam (coleroon - in colonial English) is a semiurban village in nagapattinam district. Anaikaranchathiram or kollidam is the northern border of nagapattinam district. This village comes under Sirkazhi taluk. Annaikaranchathiram lies on the banks of kollidam river so it derives the name kollidam. It is situated between chidambaram and sirkazhi. Chidambaram is 8 km from kollidam and sirkazhi is 12 km from kollidam. The old railway bridge across kollidam river in anaikaranchathiram has enclosed iron roof where only the train can enter in to it. When former chief minister of Tamil Nadu Arignar C.N.Annadurai died, thousands of people travel on the roof of the train to attend the funeral. When the train entered the bridge, many died by colluding with the iron ceiling.

 Kollidam has three banks but no bank has its ATM in kollidam. Many people from kollidam are working in abroad like Saudi, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Kuwait, Qatar, etc. Kollidam has its own railway station which is more than 100 years old. Anaikaranchathiram police station is nearer to kollidam bridge. Anaikaranchathiram post office is within 200m from railway station and it is situated next to vasanthamahal thirumanamandapam. Pincode is 609102. There are four thirumanamandapam in kollidam. VaICDS office is situated next to post office. Southern part of kollidam is thaikkal. it is famous for mat weaving and cane works. Mainly Muslims are engaged in this occupation.

Padmasri nursery and primary school, situated nearer to Sandaram thirumanamandapam, behind vasantha mahal thirumanamandapam. 3. Saraswathi matriculation school, situated near BDO office, PHC, 200m from rail way station. 4. Srinivasa matriculation school, situated at main road, nearer to puleeswari amman temple.

      Once upon a time, kollidam is a beautiful village but now the real estate business changed its greener landscape.
