Steven Jackson (politician)is a native of Shreveport, La, Steven Jackson is the sixth sibling of his mother Patricia Jackson’s seven children. Born February 7, 1987 he grew up in Allendale and Cedar Grove neighborhoods of Shreveport. He graduated from Woodlawn High School and attended Grambling State University. While attending GSU, he had the privilege to forge an indelible stamp for student leadership as SGA Vice President and SGA President. While serving as SGA President, Jackson was elected by colleagues of seven (now eight) other SGA Presidents of the University of Louisiana System to serve as the Student Member of the ULS Board of Supervisor, which serves as the managing and operating board of eight (now nine) universities in Louisiana. Keeping a commitment to educational achievement, Jackson completed an interdisciplinary Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Louisiana State University-Shreveport (LSUS) in Spring 2012.

Jackson has served in several professional and volunteer capacities within the Shreveport community. In 2012 Jackson was recognized by the Shreveport Bossier Chamber of Commerce, Young Professional Initiative (YPI) as one of Shreveport’s 40 Under 40 young professionals. Jackson served as Executive Assistant to the Honorable Mayors’ Cedric B. Glover serving as an advisor for state and federal legislative affairs, special economic development projects, liaison for quasi-governmental agencies, and neighborhood associations.

In the Fall 2015 Caddo residents of District-3 elected Jackson to represent them on the Caddo Parish Commission Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).. Capturing 64 % of the vote, he is the youngest person to ever serve on the Commission. In 2017 he became the youngest person (30 years old) to serve as President of the Caddo Parish Commission . During his first year of service he is credited with establishing the Parish's Safe Summer Initiative which increased the number of youth employment during the summer and in creased safe recreation activities in response to violence. He also sucessfully secured $1million dollars to help support building Caddo Common Park.
