Philanthropy[edit]

As one of the world's largest billionaires, Philip Anschutz has been making a name for himself in the philanthropic community by supporting a number of strongly conservative organizations, financially. [1] He was listed on Forbes list of Billionaires as number 123 with a networth of 6 billion in March of 2010.[2]

Anschutz is a major contributor to the Anschutz Family Foundation, which was established by his parents in 1982. From 1998-2004, Anschutz has donated a total of $110 million through his foundation.[3]From an initial $4.5 endowment, the assets of the institution have grown in the past two decades to a $54 million value with $28,035,671 of it awarded through the 5,241 grants which have gone towards pushing humanitarian needs in Colorado.[1]

In addition to his contributions towards his family's foundation, Anschutz has donated more than $23 million over the last decade, to the Foundation for a Better Life and the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation.[1]

Other groups which he advocates for are value-centered groups such as the Institute for American Value. This institute's concern has been to address marriage and single parenting issues. He also advocates for a campaign against Internet pornography called Enough is Enough.[1]

Over the course of six years, Anschutz has alloted 80% of his $110 million total donations to charities in Colorado, and in recent years, he has become actively involved in moralistic filmmaking, contributing $67 million towards the filming of Hole, $30 million towards the filming of Because of Winn-Dixie, and has also contributed towards the filming of C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia.[1]
