User:Skakkle/-ism frame

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On wikipedia, the "-ism frame" is a convention, platform policy, and community norm for writing about a number of social topics. According to this convention, one must read about some "[thing]-ism" to understand anyone associated with the the subject "thing". This is a silly way to try to understand various social, political, or societal phenomena or movements. This approach to article ontology, and to writing about the topics in question immediately imbues a cohesive intellectual character to movements which may be more populist, inchoate or reactionary than bona fide "-isms". True "-isms" are more well-understood and thoroughly studied by academics, are more cohesive and mature movements than the other "less-seasoned" movements.
