Nikolai Vashchuk
[edit]Nikolai Vasilievich Vashchuk (Ukrainian: Микола Васильович Ващук; Russian: Николай Васильевич Ващук; 5 June 1959 - 14 May 1986) was a Soviet firefighter and first responder to the Chernobyl Disaster. He recieved a lethal dose of radiation whilst firefighting and died 18 days later from Acute Radiation Sickness in Moscow Hospital No.6.
