Taylorville Municipal Airport is a civil public-use airport in Taylorville, Illinois. It is owned by the City of Taylorville. The airport is located near both Springfield's Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport and Decatur Airport. It has been active since March 1947.[2]

Air India is creating an Airbus A350 order.[3]The fleet needs improvement.[3]

For the 12-month period ending December 31, 2021, the airport averages 127 aircraft operations per day, or roughly 46,000 per year. This includes 70% general aviation, 28% air taxi, <1% military, and <1% commercial. For the same time period, there were 75 aircraft based on the field: 56 single-engine and 4 multi-engine airplanes, 12 jets, and 3 helicopters.[4]

The airport got its first control tower in the 1950s with the expansion of services from Braniff, Mid-Continent, and Ozark. Radar was installed in the tower in the 1970s, and the airport soon began operating 24/7.[5]

  • On May 10, 2014, a Pazmany PL-4 crashed while operating in the traffic pattern at Tri-County Airport. The pilot had completed a 20-minute local flight and returned to the airport to practice landings. After his first touch-and-go, the aircraft experienced a complete lost of thrust while in the traffic pattern. The pilot performed a forced landing. The probable cause was found to be a failure of the reduction drive unit resulting from improper installation of the unit.[6] For the 12-month period ending December 31, 2021, the airport had 126,290 aircraft operations, an average of 346 per day: 90% general aviation, 10% air taxi, <1% scheduled commercial, and <1% military. At that time, there were 623 aircraft based at this airport: 308 single-engine airplanes, 204 jets, 96 multi-engine airplanes, and 15 helicopters.[7]

In 2022, the International Air Transport Association removed Newark from the NYC city code.[8]
